Position Overview:
The Activities Assistant role provides routine daily activities and services to each assigned resident in accordance with their assessment and care plan, as directed by supervisors. Organize, implement and direct scheduled activities of a recreational, physical, educational, social and spiritual nature for residents both in groups and for individuals. Ensure participation of all residents and that activities offered can be applied to various levels of functioning according to recorded resident assessments. Perform room visitations and activities as required by schedule and / or observed resident need. Keep clear and concise documentation on logs and in resident charts of resident participation in activities as required by state regulations and facility policy. Monitor and supervise residents at all times during activities to ensure resident safety. Create and maintain an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest and positive emphasis, as well as a calm environment throughout the unit and shift.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required At least 6 months of experience in organizing and facilitating group or individual activities in a skilled nursing facility or with the geriatric population preferred Knowledge or experience working with residents with dementia is a plus Strong interpersonal and communication skills Comfortable assisting with and supervising resident activities in designated smoking areas, in accordance with facility policies and safety guidelines

Full-Time:
Tuesday - Saturday 10:30 AM - 7 PM
