Job Description

Backpacking & Hiking Guide — Yosemite Area (Contract)
Location:
Yosemite National Park, or able to reach trailheads on demand Job type: Contract (1099, per-trip) About us Alpinistas Adventures runs guided hikes and backpacking trips in Yosemite and the Sierra for adults — day hikes, multi-day backcountry trips, and beginner courses. We're looking for guides who are genuinely good with people and genuinely good in the mountains, in that order. What you'd do Lead day hikes and multi-day backpacking trips for adult clients, group sizes 1-6 Keep people safe, fed, oriented, and comfortable in the backcountry Handle the unglamorous parts without complaint — cooking, camp setup, water, pacing the slow hiker, answering the same question kindly the fourth time Teach beginners without making them feel like beginners, diving deep into demonstrations and having patience Represent the trip and the brand well from the trailhead on What you need Real experience guiding adults (not summer camp, not youth programs — adults who paid to be there and have strong expectations) Working knowledge of Yosemite and the surrounding Sierra — trails, permits, conditions, terrain WFA minimum for day hikes; WFR required for backpacking trips Sound backcountry judgment and the fitness to back it up Reliable transportation and the ability to get to trailheads on your own Your own gear and your own methods for instruction Who you are This part matters as much as the certs.
We want guides who are:
Upbeat. The mood you bring is the mood of the trip. Patient — with beginners, with slow hikers, with the person who packed wrong. Ego-free. No know-it-alls, "I've summited Half Dome 20 times" kind of vibes. The kind of person people relax around.
