Department:

Parks & Recreation Summer Camp Counselors assist the recreation department in the daily activities of the summer camp programs at various locations in the City of West Haven. Responsible for supervising, organizing and participating in daily activities with a group of children at one of our six camp locations and on any off-site trips or scheduled activities (i.e. pool, beach, park) Planning, programming, and implementing games and activities for the children assigned to their location, Ensure that all children follow rules and policies on site to ensure everyone's safety. Undertaking emergency procedures when necessary. Qualifications Must be creative, enthusiastic and desire to work with and help children develop socially and emotionally. Must have comprehensive knowledge of games and activities. Must be organized and flexible. Must demonstrate a good rapport with other counselors, supervisors, parents and children. Must be 16 years or older (15 with JR CIT experience).
