Sports Internship - Barco Newton YMCA

Intern Project:

The YMCA is an organization built to serve the community. The Youth Sports Intern would assist the Regional Sports Director and/or Sports Coordinator and execute all youth sports leagues, activities and camps. This includes marketing and promoting, creating rosters and schedules, interacting and planning with sites, vendors, referees, coaches and parents, along with overseeing all events. The goal of the YMCA and the Youth Sports Programs is to provide kids with a safe, fun and competitive environment to learn and grow in all aspects of sports.

Qualifications and Desired skills:

Good organizational and execution skills, focus on detailStrong team player who can work independentlyEnjoys collaborating and takes directions from other team matesHigh level of written and oral communication.

Good knowledge of Excel, Word, PowerPointExcellent customer service required

Responsibilities and Duties:

Coordinate with Field or Gym Monitors on the needs for each weekends programsAssist with creation of rosters and schedulesManaging and following up with coaches on any roster, schedule or site changesAssist in identifying potential programs or marketing ideasWork on building relationships with potential vendors or sponsors Ensures all First Coast YMCA standards and best practices are implemented and followed. Applies YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to best practices, emergency procedures, medical and disciplinary situations and child abuse prevention. Ensures the health and safety of all members/guests. Inspect physical space to ensure the safety, orderliness, sanitation and cleanliness of facilities. Interns who apply for the YMCA Internship will learn all the necessary skills to provide them with the tools and resources to connect organizations for better membership engagement and services. Intern candidates who agree to participate in YMCA internships assume responsibilities for learning about the nature of the work of the YMCA, its aims, policies and procedures. While actively associated with the YMCA of Florida's First Coast, he/she agrees to exhibit our core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility in all aspects of work as an intern with the YMCA and abide by all YMCA policies, rules and procedures. Additionally, the intern agrees to fulfill all assigned tasks to the best of his/her ability, making no significant changes in the established schedule without prior knowledge of the YMCA and partnering organization. Must pass Level 2 Background Screening. Level 2 is a fingerprint check of state and federal criminal history information conducted through the Florida Department of law Enforcement (FDLE) and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
