Job Description
Job Summary Join our vibrant summer camp team as a Summer Camp Counselor, where your enthusiasm and dedication will inspire children to explore, learn, and grow through engaging activities and meaningful interactions. In this dynamic role, you will create a safe, inclusive, and fun environment for kids of various ages, fostering their development while ensuring their well-being. Your energy and positive attitude will help shape memorable summer experiences that promote teamwork, creativity, and personal growth for every camper. Responsibilities Supervise and engage children in a variety of camp activities including sports, arts and crafts and outdoor adventures. Ensure the safety of all campers by monitoring their behavior and implementing proper behavior management techniques. Lead age-appropriate educational activities that support childhood development and early childhood education principles. Provide first aid when necessary, following established safety protocols to address minor injuries or health concerns. Foster an inclusive environment by working with children of diverse backgrounds and abilities, including those requiring special education support. Communicate regularly with parents or guardians regarding camper progress or concerns. Collaborate with fellow counselors to plan daily schedules, manage classroom or activity areas, and maintain a positive camp atmosphere. Requirements Prior experience working with children in settings such as daycare, babysitting, tutoring, or camp environments is highly preferred. Strong classroom management skills to maintain discipline while encouraging fun and learning. Certification in first aid and CPR is required; additional certifications in child development or special education are a plus. Ability to work effectively with children of different ages, including early childhood education techniques. Excellent communication skills to interact with children, parents, and team members confidently. Passion for working with youth and promoting childhood development through engaging activities. Flexibility to adapt to changing schedules and outdoor weather conditions during camp sessions.
