About Camp Idlewild:
Camp Idlewild of Florida provides innovative, nature-based camping programs for children and young adults with autism and other special needs. Our mission is to create a safe, fun, and supportive environment where campers can grow, build independence, and form lifelong friendships.
Position:
Camp Counselor We are seeking energetic, compassionate, and responsible college students to join our team as Camp Counselors . This is a rewarding opportunity to make a difference in the lives of campers while gaining hands-on experience in special education, recreation, psychology, social work, and related fields.
Responsibilities:
Supervise and support campers in daily activities (swimming, arts & crafts, nature exploration, team games, campfires, etc.) Assist campers with social skills, independence, and participation in activities Work collaboratively with other counselors and staff to ensure a safe and positive environment Serve as a role model by demonstrating patience, empathy, and enthusiasm
Schedule & Pay:
Weekend Camps:
Friday 4:00 PM - Sunday 3:00
PM Pay:
$220 per weekend (includes room & board)
Summer Week Camps:
Sunday -
Friday Pay:
$350 per week (includes room & board)
Qualifications:
Must be at least 18 years old Passion for working with children and young adults with special needs Ability to work in a team-oriented, outdoor environment Previous camp, childcare, or volunteer experience preferred (not required—training provided) Why Join Us?
