A Recreation or Activities Worker leads tours and vacation trips in outdoor or wilderness areas. Leads hiking, rafting, canoeing, climbing or diving activities for a group. Provides specialized knowledge about the history, terrain, ecology or wildlife for the tour. Manages transportation, equipment and provisions and assists with cooking.

Key Responsibilities:
Develop and coordinate a diverse range of activities tailored to the needs and interests of clients, ensuring inclusivity and accessibility for all participants. Collaborate with clinical staff to integrate therapeutic goals into activity planning, aligning with individual treatment plans and objectives. Schedule and oversee daily, weekly, and monthly activity programs, ensuring a balanced mix of recreational, educational, and therapeutic opportunities. Facilitate group sessions and individual activities, providing support and encouragement to participants to foster engagement and participation. Evaluate the effectiveness of activities and programs, gathering feedback from clients and staff to make necessary adjustments and improvements. Maintain accurate records of activity participation, progress, and outcomes, ensuring compliance with organizational policies and procedures. Manage resources, including equipment and materials, to support the delivery of high-quality activities, coordinating with vendors and suppliers as needed. Assist in the training and supervision of volunteers and support staff involved in activity programs, promoting a collaborative and supportive team environment. Promote a safe and positive atmosphere for all activities, adhering to health and safety regulations and protocols. Engage with clients and their families to encourage participation and inform them about the benefits and goals of the activity programs.
Required Education:
Associate's degree in Recreation, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field. A Bachelor's degree is preferred.
Required Experience:
Minimum of 2 years of experience in organizing and coordinating activities within a behavioral health or similar environment. Experience working with individuals with mental health challenges or developmental disabilities. Proven track record of developing and implementing successful activity programs.
Required Skills and Abilities:
Strong organizational and planning skills to effectively coordinate a variety of activities and events. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to interact with clients, staff, and external partners. Ability to motivate and engage individuals in activities that promote socialization, skill development, and therapeutic outcomes. Proficiency in using computer software for scheduling, reporting, and communication purposes. Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment and adapt to changing priorities and needs. Knowledge of safety and health regulations related to recreational activities.
