Job Description
Moorings Park is looking for a Fitness Coordinator. The Fitness Coordinator is responsible for supporting the comprehensive fitness program under the guidance of the Director of Fitness. This program prioritizes physical health and well-being, encompassing various facets of fitness, including strength, cardiovascular health, balance, and flexibility for older adults. While the main emphasis is on physical fitness, the program also addresses related dimensions such as nutrition and brain fitness.
Contributions:
The Fitness Coordinator will provide ideas and lead programs to promote functionality to improve resident s activities of daily living (ADLs) to encourage successful aging. This would include group fitness classes, lecture series, bocce events, 1-off programs, annual events, etc. Assist the Director of Fitness in overseeing the operation of the Fitness Department. Responsible for collecting monthly data to support the business metrics (personal training numbers, program involvement, cognitive training, etc.) Also, learn basic knowledge of the department budget. Provide ongoing educational opportunities using the fitness team s expertise/specialties as well as community resources with a focus on preventative practices. Oversee fee-based services such as Personal Training and Cognitive Training and supervise the fitness team. Schedule periodic events to promote fitness and successful aging. Assist in scheduling and performing the Moorings Annual Assessments (MAAPs + Senior Fitness Tests) Work with the Activities Directors in Assisted Living and Skilled Nursing to organize exercise and fitness programming for residents. Site supervisor to Exercise Science interns from local universities. Onboarding, set schedule and goals, track performance, communicate with staff when needed. Follow university internship guidelines. Assist Director of Fitness with new hires: resume review, interviewing, onboarding, scheduling. Makes sure all documentation for residents is completed prior to participating in exercise programs and updated when appropriate. Actively work with other departments establishing reciprocal communications and continuum of related services (i.e. activities, therapy, food service etc.) Provide representation for committee meetings, team huddles, task forces, and department meetings when needed. Participate in continuing education courses, conferences, management training, and any other developmental trainings. Comply with applicable federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations; maintains knowledge of and follows all company policies and procedures. Obtain knowledge and demonstrate the principles of Moorings Park, person directed care and successful aging philosophies and their inherent core values of commitment, respect, compassion, dedication, teamwork, and quality. Team members will support, actively participate, and act in accordance with the principles of the Moorings Park service culture and be familiar with and fluent in the language and service pillars of Moorings Park.Job Requirements:
Excellent oral and written communication skills in the English language required During emergencies or natural disasters may be required to be on duty for the duration of the disaster. Minimum of BS in Exercise Science combined with relevant continuing education and professional experience. Certification withACSM, NSCA
preferable. Previous experience as a personal trainer, Instructor and/or assistant to a fitness or wellness director in settings such as athletic club, hospital.
