Under close supervision of the Recreation Manager, or designee. Performs varied routine duties in assisting the Leisure Services Department. Work is performed with some independence. Work is reviewed through conferences and results obtained. Front desk customer service. Completes guest check-ins, registrations, and basic transactions while maintaining an organized reception area. Handle customer inquiries regarding schedules, services, and policies. Serves as facility reservation attendants. Greets customers, oversee facility rentals and center spaces, ensures rules and guidelines are followed. Recreation field preparation and monitoring. Performs field maintenance, prepares for games and leagues, monitors facilities to ensure guest safety and facility upkeep. Special events. Assists with the set-up, teardown and special events, concerts, holiday celebrations, and other community programs. Character performer. Recreation character performs with high energy and enthusiasm at public events, promotional, and marketing appearances. Opens, secures and cleans facilities for programs/events/rentals. Enforces rules and regulations of proper facility use; maintains orderliness and daily inspections of recreational areas. Issues equipment; collects fees and memberships; maintains records/logs/scorekeeping, if required; ensures the proper care and use of equipment. Assists contractual instructors in setting up and maintaining required equipment & records. Interact professionally with members of the public. Performs special assignments or projects as assigned. KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES, AND SKILLS

Excellent customer service skills. Knowledge of a variety of recreational activities and equipment. Knowledge of the rules and regulations governing the play of a variety of recreational games. Ability to responsibly oversee the use of a recreational facility. Ability to establish and maintain effective and courteous relationships with the public. Ability to maintain simple records. Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions. Demonstrated reliability and dependability. Ability to work flexible hours. Skill in the safe operation of a light motor vehicle.

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

High school attendee, diploma, or GED; supplemented by some work experience in recreational activities or related environment; or an equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Must have

CPR, AED

(automated external defibrillator) and First Aid within six (6) months. Valid Florida Driver's License.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Acceptable eyesight (with or without correction). Acceptable hearing (with or without hearing aid). Ability to communicate both orally and in writing. Ability to communicate non-verbally to public - Character Performer. Reaching, bending, and lifting. Lifting objects of 15-50lbs. Use of fingers, use of hands. Sitting, standing, walking, running. Ability to access, input and retrieve information and data from a computer. Ability to access file cabinets for filing and retrieval of data. May require the ability to perform and/or demonstrate various physical skills involved in recreational programming.
