A Recreation or Activities Worker leads tours and vacation trips in outdoor or wilderness areas. Leads hiking, rafting, canoeing, climbing or diving activities for a group. Provides specialized knowledge about the history, terrain, ecology or wildlife for the tour. Manages transportation, equipment and provisions and assists with cooking.

Job Description

Job Summary:
Perform various support activities for agency programs (After School Program, Summer Camp, etc.); Interact with and supervise youth; Assist with homework, enrichment and recreation activities.
Paid Holidays Job Type:
Part-time (higher wage for DCF certified)
Work Schedule:
Monday - Friday (2:00 PM - 6:00 PM); additional hours in the summer Education and/or
Experience:
High School Diploma; Minimum of two years' work experience in the field of education or youth programs preferred; Good oral and written communication skills are required; computer skills required; DCF 40-hour child care training preferred (or must obtain within 90 days); Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus. Must pass Level 2 background screening.
Personal Qualifications:
The Program Aide must possess good organizational skills, as well as, the ability to effectively and appropriately work with people. Responsibilities Assist in planning and implementing recreational activities for children, ensuring a safe and engaging environment. Provide supervision and support during activities, promoting positive behavior and teamwork. Communicate effectively with children and parents, addressing any concerns or needs. Maintain organization and cleanliness of recreational spaces and equipment. Collaborate with staff to support children with special needs and develop individualized strategies.
