Recreation Program Coordinator / Athletics West Palm Beach, FL Job Details Full-time $23.75 an hour 1 day ago Qualifications CPR Certification First aid Driver's License First Aid Certification Full Job Description Under close supervision, coordinates and participates in the development and presentation of quality recreation program activities at a recreation site, facility or specialty area. Responsible for planning and coordinating all aspects of recreation youth and adults sports leagues.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
(Which are not in any hierarchical order) 1. Plan and coordinate youth and adult sports programs which include registration, scheduling, meetings, advertisements, organization of leagues, mediation of problems, equipment control and maintenance, transportation, and tournament activities. 2. Plan, coordinate, and supervise recreation programs. 3. Select, train, schedule, supervise, and evaluate subordinates. 4. Prepare and maintain budgets for operations. 5. Requisition materials, equipment, and supplies and process payments for services. 6. Perform administrative duties such as scheduling recreation programs and prepare oral and written reports. 7. Perform and coordinate maintenance and upkeep of facilities. 8. Answer service-related questions posed by customers or provide customer with contact number through which the desired information may be obtained. 9. Perform both pre-trip and post-trip inspections daily on assigned vehicles or equipment. 10. Recruit youth and adult sports team coaches. 11. Serve as liaison with parents of children in youth sports programs. 12. Perform other job duties as assigned. Salary $23.75 hourly - Pay Grade 50 Excellent Benefits! Qualifications Associates degree with a major in Recreation, Leisure Management, or related field (education will be verified using the "Education Requirements" listed below) and one (1) year of related experience is required, or any equivalent combination of training and experience. First Aid and CPR certification required or the ability to obtain with ninety (90) days from the date of employment. National Alliance for Youth Sports Certification or the ability to obtain within six (6) months of employment. You will be required to pass a Level II Background from the State of Florida. Childcare Training Courses and Florida Class B Commercial driver's license with air brakes, and the "P" and "S" endorsement is preferred or may be required within one (1) year of employment if assigned to an after-school program site. For application purposes, a valid driver's license from any state or a State of Florida Class E driver's license may be utilized.
Education Requirements :
To be considered valid (or verified) for position qualification purposes, and consistent with City Hiring Policy 4-5, a High School, GED or equivalent diploma, and all higher education degrees or certifications must have been issued by: a) a public education institution in the State of Florida or any State or Territory of the United States; or b) an institution accredited by an accrediting organization that is recognized by the Florida Department of Education or the U.S. Department of Education; or c) an institution that is accredited by an organization that is recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA); or d) an institution whose degree or certification is accepted by institutions identified in either a, b, or c above for the purpose of admission to institutions identified in either a, b, or c above. International degrees will be evaluated to determine if they satisfy qualification requirements.
Special Driving Requirements:
Have not lost any driving privileges by reason of revocation, suspension, or denial of license, or have been convicted and/or had an adjudication withheld of three or more moving violations. Have not had one DUI (Driving Under the Influence) in any preceding twenty-four (24) month period. License suspension of two weeks or less or suspensions based only on non-moving violations that have been cleared will not automatically result in revocation of driving privileges. Have not had more than one DUI (conviction or adjudication withheld) in Florida or any other state within the past ten (10) years. Additional Details The selection process for this position may consist of any, all or a combination of the following tests: evaluation of training and experience, written examination, structured oral interview or other assessment method.
State of Emergency:
When normal operations of City departments are suspended or interrupted due to a declaration by the Mayor that a state of emergency exists, all employees will be deemed critical by the City. For the preparation and/or continuation of emergency operations or for special work detail, employees deemed necessary shall be required to work. Employees deemed critical by the City but not needed for the initial preparation and/or continuation of emergency operations or for special work detail may be directed not to report to work, and given paid administrative leave or they may be reassigned to another location that best meet the needs of the City.
