Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Activities Assistant to enrich the lives of residents in a senior living community. The ideal candidate will possess a passion for engaging seniors through thoughtfully planned activities and recreational programs. As an Activities Assistant, you will play a vital role in fostering a vibrant, inclusive environment that promotes socialization, mental stimulation, and overall well-being. This position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of older adults by coordinating engaging events and supporting their individual needs. Responsibilities Plan, organize, and facilitate a variety of recreational activities tailored to residents' interests, abilities, and care requirements. Assist with the development and implementation of activity programs that promote cognitive, physical, and emotional health. Coordinate resident events, outings, and special celebrations to foster community engagement and resident rapport building. Collaborate with care staff to ensure activities align with residents' care plans, including those with dementia or memory care needs. Maintain accurate documentation of resident participation and activity feedback for continuous program improvement. Support residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) as needed, encouraging independence while providing compassionate assistance. Manage schedules for daily activities and ensure all events are well-organized and executed smoothly. Foster positive relationships with residents by providing companionship, encouragement, and personalized attention. Skills Proven experience in event planning, recreational therapy, or senior care within assisted living or nursing home environments. Strong understanding of Alzheimer's care, dementia care, geriatrics, and memory support strategies. Excellent communication skills to effectively engage residents and coordinate with team members. Ability to develop innovative programs that meet diverse resident needs and preferences. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite for documentation and scheduling purposes. Experience working with individuals with disabilities or special needs in a geriatric setting. Demonstrated leadership skills in team coordination and program development within senior living facilities. Knowledge of aging issues counseling and long-term care best practices to support holistic resident well-being.
