Description Chatham County Parks and Recreation is hiring a Therapeutic Recreation Coordinator. If you have a Bachelor's Degree in Therapeutic Recreation or Education, along with at least two (2) years of experience in therapeutic recreation, we encourage you to apply for this outstanding opportunity. Examples of Duties Coordinate and implement activities and programs for the needs of children and adults with illnesses and/or disabling conditions. Foster inclusion in general recreation programming through developmentally appropriate crafts, games, and other planned activities while ensuring safe, accessible, and rewarding experiences. Supervise therapeutic recreation participants within Parks and Recreation facilities and programs. Provide therapeutic recreation services in community settings. Describe and present therapeutic recreation services to consumers, families, and other interested parties through the community, including the school systems. Provide outstanding communication and customer service as you work throughout the community and with the citizens of Chatham County. May supervise other staff in therapeutic recreation activities. Perform other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Therapeutic Recreation, Education, or a related field, and At least two (2) years of experience in therapeutic recreation that includes program/activity oversight and supervision; or Any equivalent combination of experience and training. Must be certified as a Therapeutic Recreation Specialist OR you must be able and eligible to successfully complete the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification (NCTRC) exam within a specified timeframe. Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license. During emergencies and disasters affecting Chatham County, you may be required to report to work as part of a disaster operations team. In accordance with the Department of Transportation, Commercial Driver's License (CDL) holders and those employed in safety-sensitive positions are subject to random drug testing. Candidates with direct and relevant experience may receive an offer of up to 10% above the minimum salary that is posted, reflecting their exceptional qualifications.
