Job Description
Coordinator of Campus Recreation and Student Activities Young Harris College seeks energetic and innovative professional candidates to interview for the Assistant Director/Coordinator of Campus Recreation and Student Activities. The Office of Campus Life supports the academic mission of the College by creating experiential learning opportunities and activities outside the classroom, encouraging student engagement on campus. Additionally, the Assistant Director/Coordinator will help guide the operations of campus recreation and student activities. This position is exempt. To oversee student programming and major campus wide events, the Assistant Director/Coordinator must be able to work a flexible schedule that includes nights and weekends. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Collaborate with Campus Life team to create campus wide events Plan and offer events during large campus-wide events like Orientation, Welcome Week, Family Weekend, Fall Fest, Spring Fest, and Graduation activities Assess the needs and wants of students for campus events. Select, train, advise, and evaluate the Campus Activities Board (CAB). Assist the Campus Activities Board in planning, budgeting, executing, and assessing campus-wide programming events and activities so that members of CAB learn skills and students have a variety of involvement opportunities. Create programming that incorporates learning about diverse cultures and backgrounds Plan a variety of large campus wide events and small events for every month during fall and spring semesters. Develop, manage, and assess the Student Involvement budget Oversee the execution of required documents and contracts for events. Create and implement assessment plans for student programming Create and lead Campus Recreation and Fitness programs for a wide variety of interests including intramural sports programming, fitness programming, special events and adventure trips Recruit, train, lead and evaluate student employees Enforce and establish policies and procedures for intramural sports and other recreational events Schedule intramural events and coordinate other special events Schedule student workers for intramural events and fitness center Other duties as assigned Supervisory Responsibilities Directly supervises members of the Campus Activities Board and the Campus Recreation staff. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the College's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; addressing complaints and resolving problems; and assessing effectiveness of programs. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree and two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Previous programming experience. Leadership experience. Preferred Qualifications Master's degree in Sports and Recreation, College Student Personnel, Higher Education, Counseling, or other related field; two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Previous programming experience. At least three to five years' experience in higher education administration and experience working in a small college environment are highly desirable.
