Job Description

The Jackie Joyner-Kersee Foundation is seeking an energetic and dependable Athletic Youth Development Professional to join our afterschool team. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with youth and using sports, recreation, and physical activity to build confidence, teamwork, discipline, and healthy habits.
Schedule:
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday & Friday:
1:30-6:00 p.m.
Wednesday:
12:30-6:00 p.m. What You'll Do Lead engaging sports, fitness games, recreational activities, and other athletic programming. Actively supervise youth and maintain a safe, positive environment. Help youth develop teamwork, sportsmanship, discipline, and confidence. Use positive reinforcement and redirection to support appropriate behavior. Assist with participant arrival, dismissal, snack/mealtimes, field trips, and program transitions. Set up, maintain, and safely store athletic equipment and supplies. Build positive relationships with youth, families, and fellow staff. Serve as a positive role model and mentor. Participate in required training, professional development, and staff meetings. These responsibilities reflect the athletic programming and youth-supervision duties in the official position description. What We're Looking For High school diploma or GED required. At least 1 year of experience working with children or youth, paid or volunteer. Coaching, sports, recreation, fitness, camp, or youth athletic experience preferred. Ability to actively engage, supervise, and positively redirect school-age youth. Dependable and available to work the scheduled afterschool hours. Strong communication, organization, and relationship-building skills. Mandated Reporter and CPR/First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a pre-employment drug screening and required background checks. This is an active position. Candidates should be comfortable standing for extended periods and participating in activities such as running, walking, jumping, bending, and reaching.
Pay:
From $16.00 per hour Expected hours: No more than 25.0 per week
