Job Description

The City of Elgin's Parks & Recreation department is seeking responsible, energetic individuals to serve as Sports Complex Activity Supervisors . This position plays a key role in ensuring safe, organized, and positive recreational experiences for youth and adult participants. Activity Supervisors oversee facility operations during assigned shifts, support leagues and rentals, and act as the on-site representative for Elgin Parks & Recreation. This is a part-time, seasonal position with evening and weekend hours required. Supervise day-to-day operations of the sports complex during assigned shifts Open and close the facility, ensuring all areas are safe, clean, and ready for use Oversee leagues, games, practices, and facility rentals to ensure schedules are followed Serve as the primary on-site contact for coaches, officials, participants, spectators, and renters Monitor activities to ensure safety, sportsmanship, and compliance with facility rules Address questions, conflicts, or concerns in a professional and courteous manner Complete incident reports and communicate issues to full-time staff as needed Assist with basic facility upkeep and report maintenance or safety concerns Officiate in-house league games when a scheduled official does not report, if qualified Enforce all Elgin Parks & Recreation policies and procedures Physical & Environmental Requirements Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the facility for extended periods Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions Ability to lift, carry, and set up basic sports equipment Must be at least 18 years of age High school diploma or equivalent required Previous experience in recreation, sports supervision, or customer service preferred General knowledge of youth and adult sports rules and game flow Strong communication and conflict-resolution skills Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions in fast-paced environments Reliable attendance and punctuality required Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays Officiating experience is a plus but not required (training may be provided)

Monday-Friday:
4:00 PM - 10:30
PM Saturday-Sunday:
7:00 AM - 10:30 PM (Hours may vary based on leagues, tournaments, and facility rentals)
