In this vital role, you will develop, implement, and oversee therapeutic recreation programs tailored specifically for veterans within community settings. Your expertise will help enhance the quality of life for veterans by utilizing a variety of recreational activities, including music therapy, dance therapy, art therapy, swimming, yoga, and equine-assisted experiences. You will collaborate closely with healthcare professionals to assess individual needs, create personalized care plans, and ensure engaging, safe, and effective recreational opportunities that promote mental health, physical well-being, and social connection. Responsibilities Lead the planning, budgeting, organizing, marketing, coordinating, and implementing a wide range of major recreation programs. Provide additional assistance (as requested) in the planning, promoting and presenting of recreation programs, competitions and related activities with collaborative partners recreation centers approved by the CEO. Assist in developing and implementing spending in accordance with the budget established for specific programs/events. Organize and execute adapted recreational activities designed to support mental and physical health, wellness, culture, and social enjoyment. Facilitate and adapt whole health programming as requested weekly or required as needed. Qualifications The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, a passion for promoting health and wellness, and experience in program facilitation.

Education:

Graduate of an accredited college or university with a BA/BS in Therapeutic Recreation or related field of study.

Certification Requirements:

• Current National Council on Therapeutic Recreation Certification (NCTRC) or C the ability to become certified within 12 months of hire.
• Currently hold one or all these certifications or can attain them if requested: CPR/First Aid/AED/Lifeguard. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, a passion for promoting health and wellness, and experience in program facilitation.
