Operational Excellence Under the supervision of the Therapeutic Manager, develops and adheres to annual operating budget, operational plans and provides information to develop marketing materials and website presence. Under the supervision of the Therapeutic Manager, develops and implements service delivery manuals, training protocols, and team performance standards to meet the diverse recreational needs of adults with disabilities. Maintains all current paperwork and implements systems under the direction of the District requirements and Manager to include but not limited to: program plans, program documentation, staff performance, assessments, attendance, evaluations, inventory, supplies and equipment, risk management, care plans and medication logs. Coordinates, leads, and documents staff meetings to include such topics as: supplies, community outing procedures, safety reports, customer feedback, program planning and schedules, staff issues, program plans, and daily attendance. Monitors trends & community needs to help make guide program content. Maintains an active caseload of participants requiring individualized support and strategies, ensuring services are person-centered, responsive to changing needs, and aligned with participant goals. Coordinates interdisciplinary communication among participants, families, guardians, caregivers, schools, residential providers, case managers, and community agencies to ensure continuity of care and successful program participation. Implements positive behavior support strategies, crisis prevention techniques, and de-escalation practices consistent with District policies and individualized supports Assists Recreation Coordinator with planning, organizing, and implementing sport-related programs, such as Buddy and All Stars Sports Programming will average at least 15 hours per week. Program hours are often in the evening and occasional weekends. Act as Manager on Duty within the TR department as needed. Program Development/Implementation Designs, plans, promotes and implements social, leisure, fitness programs for adults with disabilities. Consistently learns, reviews and updates risk management procedures to include ERP plans and site and safety checklist. Actively involved in participant case reviews by informing and inviting team members to give feedback and ideas to ensure high quality service and smooth transitions to each participant. Case reviews include verbal and/or written summary of progress, goals, and methods for success as needed. Initiates, develops and interacts with internal and external partners along with local and regional organizations to build strong relationships for outreach, recruitment, and promoting opportunities to participants. Coordinates, requests and confirms transportation, facility reservations, and fieldtrips. Gathers, loads, transports, inventories, purchases, and sets up equipment and supplies as needed. Partnerships Serves on external committees along with local and regional organizations to build strong relationships for outreach, recruitment, and to promote opportunities for participants. Includes, but not limited to Northlands Association for Special Recreation (NASR). Cultivates relationships with all groups and/or individuals that contribute to achieving the mission of the District and supports improved quality of life. Customer Satisfaction Inclusive strategies to engage customers and families through social media, guide books, flyers and outreach. Assessing the functioning and participation of customers with disability-related needs to make recommendations for interventions and strategies for positive behavioral support and serves as a consultant to model and assist in the implementation of such strategies. Coordinates and implements parent and participant feedback systems. Teamwork Assists with the coordination of scheduling of seasonal staff members, coaches, and volunteers within the TR team. Works flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as program needs require Promotes a team-oriented environment and supports the success of colleagues across the District Serve as a member of an internal district committee Performance Management/Development In collaboration with the Human Resources Department, recruits team members for the operation. Assists with the recruitment, hiring, training, mentoring, and evaluation of 15+ seasonal team members and 1 part time team member. Monitors and evaluates the performance of team members Manages team members by providing coaching, encouragement, direction, and effectively addressing issues in accordance with District policies and procedures. Provides training and development opportunities for team members that enhances skills, knowledge and abilities that strengthens the District's culture. Collaborates internally with operations to share information, direction, issues, concerns, solutions, etc. Leads with a servant leader style and approach when interacting with internal and external customers. Recommends and organizes team members and operations to meet current and future needs. Assists Recreation Supervisor and/or Coordinator with the delivery and supervision of interns to meet NCTRC professional requirements. Attends trainings, seminars, and conferences to enhance personal and professional growth and development. Attends and participates in District meetings, including Rockford Park District Board meetings, when requested. Financial/Budget Assists the Therapeutic Recreation Manager in developing and executing the budgets and operational plans. Monitors budget details monthly. Compliance Under the supervision of the Therapeutic Manager, develops and implements risk management practices and procedures that comply with PDRMA standards, Rockford Park District Policies and all federal, state and local regulations. Maintains a working knowledge of overall district and department safety procedures. Attend safety, programs and educational in-service trainings as required. Serves as one of the district's designated CPR instructors, providing training and supporting staff in maintaining CPR certification and emergency preparedness Education/Experience Bachelor's Degree in Therapeutic Recreation, Adapted Physical Education, Physical Education or Special Education or equivalent or combination of an Associate's Degree plus a minimum of three years supervisory and adapted sport programming experience with some disability related coursework. Current Certification and in good standing as a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) by the National Council for Recreation Certification (NCTRC) preferred.
