Job Overview The Sports Coordinator is responsible for the administration, operation, and development of all ball sports programming at the Indianapolis Healthplex, including youth and adult leagues, tournaments, clinics, court and field scheduling, and staffing. This role serves as the primary accountability owner for ball and youth sports revenue and day-to-day program execution. The Sports Coordinator is directly responsible to the Programming Director. This is an hourly, exempt position.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The following duties and responsibilities are given as examples of the various types of work performed in this position. Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned. Provides direct oversight of all youth and adult sports leagues, ensuring quality programming, fair play, and an exceptional participant experience. Manages league operations and game-day execution, including official assignments, scorekeeping, facility readiness, ordering prizes (medals, trophies) and uniforms, and real-time problem resolution. Administers tournament operations end-to-end, including planning, registration, bracket management, scheduling, and on-site game-day management. In collaboration with the Programming Director, optimizes court and field scheduling to maximize facility utilization, protect member access, and capture rental revenue opportunities. Develops and implements sports clinics, camps, and instructional programming for youth and adult participants. In collaboration with the Programming Director, recruits, trains, schedules, and supervises all sports programming staff to ensure service excellence and program quality. Leads setup and teardown of sports equipment for tournaments, practices, and all other sport-related events. Manages the League Cards in the Playbooks platform, including entering game statistics, managing participant signups and registrations, and maintaining accurate program records. In collaboration with the Programming Director, prepares and manages the Ball Sports department budget; monitors expenditures and reports on variances to the Programming Director. In collaboration with the Programming Director, develops and maintains a court and field rental process that maximizes revenue, minimizes scheduling conflicts, and preserves equitable member access. Coordinates with other departments to support cross-programming opportunities, facility-wide events, and integrated member experiences. Communicates participant and staff issues to the Programming Director as necessary. Serves as Manager on Duty (MOD) as scheduled, including weekend coverage as assigned by the Programming Director. When assigned, opens or closes the facility following all club procedures outlined for these activities. Reports equipment malfunctions or safety hazards to management promptly. Knows, understands, and adheres to the responsibilities of the job including Corporate Compliance, HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability Accountability Act), PHI (Protected Health Information), appropriate lines of authority, and all other regulatory agencies and accrediting bodies. Performs the specific roles as outlined in the Safety Manual for emergency situations. Supports the company's philosophy, goals, and adheres to policies. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS A
four-year undergraduate degree from an accredited institution in Sports Management, Recreation Management, Kinesiology, Physical Education, or a related field is preferred. A minimum of two (2) years of experience in sports programming, league administration, or recreation management is preferred. Prior supervisory experience is preferred. Must be certified in infant, child, and adult CPR and automated external defibrillator (AED) before assuming the position; or any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

HPA has adopted a no-lift policy which prohibits employees from lifting a member or guest unless in the normal course of their duties. In the case of an emergency, employees must seek additional assistance prior to lifting a member or guest.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is performed in a wellness center environment, which includes gymnasium courts, multipurpose fields, and office areas. The employee is required to work near moving mechanical parts and equipment. The noise level in the work environment is typically moderate to loud, with increases and decreases without notice. The temperature within the environment ranges from 62-80 degrees Fahrenheit. The employee may run the risk of exposure to infectious diseases/pathogens or blood due to close proximity to other people, as well as exposure to lubricants and cleaning solutions. The employee is required to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours as needed to support programming and events. Any deviation from prescheduled hours must be cleared by the Associate Director of Operations prior to schedule changes, late arrival, or early departures.
