Youth Program Director Working Conditions/Physical Requirements :
Ability to stand for extended periods of time. Effective communication. Must be able to document accurately. Ability to move about with reasonable accommodation, reach, turn, twist, touch, bend, kneel, push, pull, etc. Ability to lift to 50 pounds and move objects short distances. Manual handiness and coordination may be required to operate such as but not limited to art tools, sports equipment, program equipment, and standard office equipment.
Required Certification/Experience:
Must be at least 18 years of age or older and high school graduate or GED Must be able to pass Criminal Background Check according to KDHE Child Care Laws • Must be willing to complete a minimum of 16 hours of professional development each year. First-Aid/CPR certified
Preferred Knowledge and Skills:
Leadership skills such as communication, empathy, conflict resolution, adaptability, decision making, and cultural competence. Education and practical training in sports, games, crafts, science, outdoor recreation and other academic areas. Education and practical training in age-appropriate discipline practices and development of participants. Possess fundamental knowledge of recreational activities and industry standards. Understanding of age-appropriate activities and ability to plan, develop, and implement programs and activities. Knowledge of KDHE licensing regulations for school-age programs such as ratio requirements, food handling practices, etc.
