Job Description
Position Summary:
The position of Art Coordinator is responsible for creating, planning, organizing, implementing, and evaluating daily art activities and weekly programs. In addition, the position also provides supervision and promotes engagement of club members and ensures a safe and supportive environment for club members by promoting positive relationships. Primary duties for theArt Coordinator:
Ensure Monthly Activities Calendar is posted Club is decorated with art from the members monthly, reflecting the monthly theme and or season Members are rewarded through positive recognition including Art Member of the Month Supervise and participate alongside members during program times while instructing members with enthusiasm and creativity . Ensure and maintain the mental, physical and emotional safety, health and welfare of members. Coordinate interactive learning experiences for children. Relate to the children with respect and understanding and realize you are an adult role model for them. Adhere to and uphold all Club rules and policies. Display BGC values by being the best role model around! Attend all general and site staff meetings and training sessions and give input. Participate in collaborative programs and events with other staff community organizations as appropriate. Secure and maintain materials, equipment and other resources belonging to the program area(s), reporting any problems with the equipment/supplies to the respective Program Director. Maintain a safe and clean program area(s). Other duties as assigned by supervisor.Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required. Prior experience in similar role preferred. Knowledge of best practices for instructing and participating in youth-based athletic activities. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. CPR/First Aid Certification- Must pass a National background check Skills /
Knowledge Required :
- Strong verbal skills, ability to speak clearly and professionally.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment where children are present.
- Strong interpersonal skills, ability to articulate instructions clearly.
- Understanding of and ability to share the Club's philosophy, vision, and goals.
- Understanding of and ability to follow organizational policies and procedures.
- Self-starter with excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple assignments, prioritize, manage time effectively and efficiently, and complete tasks within deadlines.
- Valid driver's license.
Area:
- All program areas must post their expectations.
- Expectations must be consistent, predicable, and enforced.
- Expectations should always be stated in a positive manner.
Evaluation Plans/First Aid Signs:
- All Emergency Plans, First Aid Signs, and Fire Extinguishers must be posted at all times.
- Staff should discuss this with their members often.

Equipment:
All members should fully understand how to use all equipment and the dangers of them.- Tables and stools: Members should not sit on the tables and should sit correctly on the stools/chairs.
Closet:
Members will not be left alone in the closet. You closet must always be clean and organized.Discipline/Supervision:
- Staff should always place themselves where you can see all members and doors. Staff should not be sitting down. Staff should always be moving around the area.
- Staff needs to be consistent with their expectations for members.
- Do not leave members alone in your area without a staff. Volunteers or Junior Staff cannot be left in your area with the members.
- Try to deal with problems in your classroom as much as possible
- Send a volunteer or another staff if you need assistance with a member or a group of members. If there is no one available send a group message asking for immediate support.
- Use redirection techniques if possible
- No group punishments
- Write up members for the following behavior problems: cussing, physical fighting, threatening others, destruction of property, using racial or derogatory slurs, and refusal to obey rules Organizational Overview - The Boys & Girls Club of Greater Haverhill was founded in 1900 to fulfill this mission: "To inspire and enable all youth, especially those who need us most, to realize their full potential as productive, responsible, and caring citizens.
