25 Hours per week / Monday-Friday (some nights & weekends required)
Supervision Received:
The Assistant Coordinator of Student Involvement reports to the Director of Student Activities, Involvement, and Leadership. Some direction to be provided by the Associate Director of SAIL.
Supervision Exercised:
The Assistant Coordinator of Student Involvement assists with the supervision of student leaders
Salary:
$20 per hour
General Statement of Duties:
The Assistant Coordinator supports the mission of SAIL by helping students build connections, develop leadership skills, and successfully transition into the Westfield State community. This position will assist in the oversight of registered student organizations, assisting with their training and event support. This position also assists with the planning, implementation, and ongoing support of New Student Orientation programs. This position plays an important role in creating a welcoming environment where students feel connected, supported, and empowered to become active members of the campus community. This is an in-person position. Some nights and weekends required.
Duties and Responsibilities:

Essential:
Serve as a support advisor for a set list of Registered Student Organizations (RSOs). Support the student leaders in these organizations with event planning, recruitment, budgeting, and training. Serve as a support advisor to the four (4) Class Councils. Support the student leaders in these councils with event planning, recruitment, budgeting, and training. Assist the Class Councils with their annual service initiatives to support the greater community. Ensure that Registered Student Organizations and Class Councils are following university policies, established university and department procedures, and RSO Constitution. Foster a sense of belonging for all students through the promotion of Student Involvement and Student Leadership Opportunities. Assists with the planning and execution of New Student Orientation and Welcome Owls Week activities. Support the recruitment and training of Orientation Leaders. Serve as an administrator of Involve Software. Work with the Registered Student Organization Leaders to manage advertising, elections, calendars, finance documents and forms, and club and organization registration processes. Assist students in developing their co-curricular transcript within the program. Based on departmental assessments and outcomes, assist in the implementation of strategies to promote quality improvements. Create a variety of reports required on a yearly and monthly basis. Review and assist in the creation of effective publicity and promotions for programs and events that fall within the areas of support provided. Perform other duties of a related nature as assigned.

Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree Required Ability to sustain communication with diverse groups, anticipate problems, reconcile conflicts, and maintain a strong philosophical base for student activities. Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of diversity, equity and inclusion related to a University setting, including awareness of intercultural trends and issues facing higher education. Demonstrated awareness and commitment to effectively establishing relationships and positive communications across multiple dimensions of diversity including, but not limited to race, gender, physical and cognitive limitations, sexual orientation, gender identity, class or religious perspectives. High level of energy, enthusiasm, creativity and demonstrated sensitivity in the presence of colleagues and students. Knowledge of risk management as it relates to student activities. Proven ability to relate well with students and other campus constituents. Strong computer skills and publication experience, including writing and editing. Strong organizational skills and the ability to set priorities and work independently. Proven experience providing exemplary customer service Experience working with audio-visual equipment. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
