Job Description

Parsons Hill Rehabilitation & Health Care Center in Worcester is looking for a fun and creative Activities Assistant to join our recreation team! 40 hours per week. Weekly pay at $16 an hour. Includes every other weekend. You'll assist the recreation department with the programming, events, and activities we do to entertain our residents and provide them with an enriching life.
Experience & Education:
Must possess, as a minimum, a high school diploma or its equivalent. As a minimum, one (1) year experience in an Activities Department in a hospital, skilled nursing care facility or other related medical facility is preferred. We can train the right candidate!
Duties & Responsibilities:
Organize the events and activities for residents, such as BINGO, arts and crafts, playing games, setting up parties, etc. Build close relationships with the residents. Come up with ideas for activities and events inspired by the likes and interests of the residents. Help coordinate and organize staff recognition events. Encourage residents to take part in activities of daily living that will stimulate his/her potential, physically, mentally, socially, and spiritually. Document and report to the nursing department any unusual or significant findings. Report all reportable events immediately in accordance with our policy. Assist with and follow through on the establishment of resident care goals within the framework of the entire therapeutic team.
Specific Requirements:
Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language. Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action. Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel and the general public. Must have patience, tact, cheerful disposition and enthusiasm, as well as be willing to handle residents based on whatever maturity level at which they are currently functioning.
