The Town of Kittery Community Center has an opening for a pat-time Teen Hub Facilitator. The pay rate for this non-exempt, non-union position ranges from $20.08 to $22.50 per hour depending upon experience and is subject to future annual cost of living and merit increases. This position may have shifts between Tuesday and Thursday from 2:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. In addition, this position will have shifts on "No-School" and School Vacation days from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and School Early Release Days from 12:00 noon to 6:00 p.m. The Teen Hub Facilitator is responsible for creating a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment for teens and pre-teens at the Kittery Community Center's Teen Hub. This role includes supervising daily Teen Hub activities, facilitating games and structured programs, and supporting special events. The facilitator fosters positive relationships with participants, encourages healthy social interactions, and ensures the space is well-organized and welcoming. Essential Duties and Responsibilities The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned. Supervise and engage youth participants to ensure a physically and emotionally safe environment; Maintain positive behavior expectations and enforce Teen Hub policies consistently; Support the planning, setup, supervision, and cleanup of daily activities, programs, and special events; Facilitate games, recreation activities, and informal social interaction opportunities; Build positive relationships with teens and support healthy peer interactions; Communicate effectively and respectfully with participants, families, coworkers, and community members; Operate concessions and maintain general organization of Teen Hub areas; Respond to routine incidents and emergencies in accordance with training and established procedures; Collaborate with program staff to maintain a positive, team-oriented working environment; Supports and assists with additional youth and family programs and special events throughout the facility, including, but not limited to: Teen Nights, Parent's Night Out, and other KCC programs as assigned; Performs other related duties as required. Essential Knowledge, Experience, Skills and Abilities High school diploma or equivalent required; Must be at least 18 years of age; Experience working with youth is strongly preferred; Education or experience in recreation, youth development, education, or related fields is desirable; Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with youth, families, school staff, coworkers, and the public; Ability to maintain composure and exercise sound judgment when managing behavior and resolving conflict; Current First Aid/CPR certification or ability to obtain upon hire; Understanding of age-appropriate activities and basic behavior management strategies for youth in grades 5-8.
