Camp Uncommon, a residential summer camp run by Change Summer, is hiring a Music Activity Counselor to lead music activities for campers entering grades 4-9. If you love music, love kids, and want an unforgettable summer of teaching, performing, and making memories — we want to hear from you. About Camp Uncommon Camp Uncommon gives students from under-resourced communities an exciting, joy-filled residential summer camp experience that builds confidence, curiosity, independence, and responsibility. Campers rotate through Athletics, Waterfront, Adventure, STEM, Discovery, and our Inter-Arts program — arts & crafts, pottery, theater, dance, and music. What You'll Do Lead daily music lessons, rehearsals, and activities — singing, instrument playing, rhythm exercises — for campers of all skill levels Set up and manage musical equipment and instruments Create a safe, inclusive, and encouraging space for kids to try something new Use positive behavior management to keep activities fun and on track Team up with fellow counselors to run talent shows and camper performances Live on-site with your camp team in Powhatan, Maine for the full season What We're Looking For Experience working with kids in a camp, school, or youth program setting Music background — teaching, performing, or coaching all count A high-energy, patient, and encouraging personality Ability to commit to the full season without interruption High school diploma required; college coursework a plus What You'll Get Room and board included (housing, all meals, laundry) Team gear and travel support to/from camp Hands-on experience leading a program, building your resume in music education, youth development, or camp leadership
