Job Description

Day Camp Counselor:
This position is the primary caregiver for campers. This position is responsible for planning, teaching, coordinating, and carrying out activities and guiding campers in their personal growth and daily living skills. Assist with camper check-in and check-out daily. Assist in the teaching and leading of age-appropriate activities of campers. Responsible for supervision of all day campers, activities, behaviors, lunch and snack. Exhibits enthusiasm for curriculum, positive leadership, and role models for campers. Effectively works as a team player with other day camp lead counseling staff. Prepares plans with the Counselor-In-Training (CIT) and Junior Counselors without leaving them alone at any time. Addresses any concerns promptly with the Camp Coordinator. Reports any accidents or incidents to the Camp Coordinator and Camp Director. Fills out any necessary reporting/paperwork. Calls parents as needed. If staying overnight, will help with evening programs and cabin counselor breaks. Completes an evaluation at the end of the camp season. At least 18 years old 6 months experience working with youth CPR/FA Certification for Adult, Child and Infant must be complete prior to camp start date Benefits All employees receive a free YMCA membership! Part-time employees begin accruing Sick Leave immediately upon hire and Paid Time Off (PTO) after one year of employment 12% Retirement Plan - The YMCA will automatically contribute an additional 12% of the eligible employee's monthly income into their YMCA Retirement Plan when the following requirements are met: The employee has been employed with the YMCA for 2 years The employee has worked 1,000 hours during each of any two 12-month periods The employee is 21 years of age or older No personal animals allowed on Camp premises.
Shifts Needed:
Option to stay overnight and help with overnight camp OR commute daily with the following hours: Monday through
