DESCRIPTION

The City of Shoreview Parks and Recreation Department is now hiring a part-time Recreation Program Coordinator to focus on our youth, teen, and adaptive and inclusion recreation programs. Recreational programs are a key part of the quality of life and value we provide to our residents.

DUTIES INCLUDE

Develops, implements, and evaluates a variety of youth, teen, and adaptive programming, including the drop-in childcare program and youth summer leadership program Provides guidance and support to staff across recreation programs to help address behavioral, social, sensory, and disability-related needs and ensure everyone can participate fully and inclusively Assists Recreation Program Supervisor with overall operational tasks and administrative duties for adaptive and inclusive programs by partnering with park and recreation staff, inclusion specialists and families to determine suitable accommodations, behavioral support tactics, and specialized resources to foster successful engagement in recreational activities Selects, trains, assigns and evaluates Associate (part-time) staff Develops new program offerings Provides consistent, high quality customer service to participants. Responds to inquiries about programs on the phone, via email, and in person; troubleshoot problems and resolve complaints Prepares program budgets; tracks and monitors revenues & expenses Writes and edits information for brochures, flyers and other promotional materials Other duties and special projects as appropriate or assigned This list is not intended to include all essential job functions, but is representative of the typical job duties.

This position requires regular and reliable attendance, the ability to concentrate and manage multiple priorities with frequent interruptions, strong written and verbal communication skills, strong customer service skills, and the ability to work well with others.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in parks & recreation, leisure studies, early childhood, elementary education or closely related field One year experience in general recreation programming One year supervisory experience Valid driver's license and satisfactory motor vehicle report

Additional recreation programming experience Additional supervisory experience Experience working with childcare programs Experience with youth programs Experience working with teen programs Experience working with individuals with disabilities

OTHER Hours:

25 hours/week; generally, Monday

•Thursday, 10 am

•4:30 pm; occasional nights and weekends

Hiring Wage Range:

$28.80

•$31.75 per hour depending on experience. This position is eligible for partial benefits. (2026 full wage range: $28.80

•$38.44 per hour)

Physical Demands:

Employee is frequently required to sit, talk, listen, and hear; continuously use hands/fingers dexterously; and frequently reach with hands and arms, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, and/or crouch in the performance of the job. Exerting up to 10 lbs. of force frequently and 30 to 50 pounds intermittently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body.

Environmental Conditions:

Duties of the job are primarily administrative in nature performed in an office environment with occasional work performed outdoors.
