Cura of Willmar is looking for an enthusiastic, compassionate, and creative Activity Assistant to join our team! Our Activities Department plays a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for our residents by providing engaging programs that promote socialization, independence, creativity, and overall well-being. As an Activity Assistant, you'll help create memorable experiences through games, crafts, music, community outings, holiday celebrations, exercise programs, and one-on-one visits. Essential Responsibilities Resident Engagement Encourage resident participation in daily activities and special events. Build positive relationships with residents through meaningful interactions. Provide one-on-one visits for residents who are unable or choose not to attend group activities. Adapt activities to meet the individual interests and abilities of residents. Promote resident independence, dignity, and choice. Activity Programming Assist with planning, setting up, and leading a variety of activities including: Arts and crafts Bingo and games Exercise and wellness programs Music and entertainment Holiday celebrations Educational programs Social events Community outings Prepare activity supplies and clean up after programs. Decorate the facility for holidays, seasonal events, and special occasions. Resident Transportation & Safety Assist residents to and from activities safely. Observe residents during activities and report any concerns or changes in condition to nursing staff. Ensure activities are conducted in a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment. Documentation Document resident attendance and participation in activities as required. Assist with maintaining activity calendars, bulletin boards, and resident communication. Help gather resident preferences and activity interests. Team Collaboration Work closely with nursing, therapy, dietary, housekeeping, and other departments to support resident-centered care. Participate in department meetings and assist with special events. Support volunteers, entertainers, and community groups visiting the facility. Customer Service Provide exceptional customer service to residents, families, visitors, and fellow team members. Foster a positive, welcoming, and engaging atmosphere throughout the facility. Help create meaningful experiences that enhance each resident's quality of life. Requirements High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Previous experience in activities, recreation, healthcare, customer service, or working with older adults is preferred but not required. Compassionate, patient, and enthusiastic personality. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Creativity and flexibility in planning and leading activities.
