Outdoor Education & Recreations Supervisor (full-time) Parkway-Rockwood Community Ed is a partnership between the Parkway and Rockwood school districts that provides programs to enhance the quality of life for residents in the areas of adult education & literacy, aquatics, art, enrichment, outdoor education, school-age care and sports & fitness.

Job Summary:

The Outdoor Education & Recreation Supervisor provides leadership for assigned Community Ed programs, with a strong focus on developing, growing, and delivering high-quality programming that meets community needs and supports the success of Community Ed. The role leads program planning and implementation, supervises staff, manages budgets, oversees the Babler Outdoor Education Center and rentals, and builds relationships with schools, community organizations, and program partners. Must work in both indoor and outdoor environments. - Hours are typically 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with some evenings and weekends required - Full benefits include health, vision and dental insurance, retirement plan, and more

Duties:

Provide leadership for all aspects of planning and implementation for assigned programs, including programs for youth, families and adults at the Babler Outdoor Education Center located at Babler State Park. Programming areas include but are not limited to outdoor education, experiential education and teambuilding Supervise rental of the Babler Outdoor Education Center by community groups, schools, etc. This includes identifying and creating relationships with potential rental groups to ensure a thorough understanding of their needs Responsible for recruitment, training, scheduling and evaluation of staff as needed for assigned programs and operation of the Babler Outdoor Education Center facility Plan and implement programs at off-site locations within the St.

Louis community, which can include schools, homeschool groups, etc Provide leadership to additional Rec & Ed programs for youth, families and adults in the areas such as art, enrichment or sports & fitness as needed Collaborate with Babler State Park staff on effective operations of the Babler Outdoor Education Center Responsible for management and oversight of program budgets to ensure programs are financially sound and contribute to the financial success of Community Ed. This includes maintaining effective communication with staff and program partners about program parameters, and seeking support and guidance from the Community Ed operations team as needed Fill-in at programs when needed due to staff shortage Work with program staff on identifying and removing obstacles and barriers for success when possible; escalate to supervisor as needed Create and maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including schools, parent groups and community organizations Serve as a member of the Community Ed Management Team Serve as member of assigned department-wide committee as determined by supervisor Collaborate with Inclusion Specialist to ensure participant success in programs by conveying a thorough understanding of program parameters and incorporating training for staff as needed Under direction of lead supervisor, collaborate with marketing team by conveying a thorough understanding of programs and help generate ideas on marketing plan Under direction of lead supervisor, collaborate with operations team on process and procedures related to tasks to support programming Represent Community Ed at programs, in the districts, and at community events as needed Perform other duties as assigned

Skills:

Ability to access all locations within Babler State Park and the Babler Outdoor Education Center, including uneven or hilly terrain as needed Ability to access all program locations within and outside the Parkway and Rockwood School Districts Ability to bend, twist, lift and manipulate equipment, supplies and mail Ability to establish and execute priorities with minimum direction or instruction Ability to judge when situations and/or information should be called to the attention of supervisor Ability to think strategically, take initiative and administer effective leadership in developing and implementing quality programs for patrons Ability to train and lead assigned staff to effectively meet program needs Ability to work a flexible schedule including non-traditional hours when required which may include nights and weekends Effective written and verbal communication skills Maintain a thorough understanding of Community Ed programs and services Must work well as part of a team and individually Possess strong organizational and interpersonal skills Work in a cross functional, team-based environment and collaborate with others in setting goals and problem solving Bachelor's degree preferred: recreation, sports & leisure, outdoor education, communications, business or comparable discipline preferred Previous professional-level experience with increasing responsibilities in recreation and outdoor education programming or similar field preferred Previous experience managing a rental facility preferred Previous experience working in an outdoor setting preferred Previous experience supervising employees preferred Strong writing, analytical, communications and organizational skills Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment on multiple projects at the same time Working knowledge of Google Workspaces and Microsoft Office software Interested?
