Part-Time Fitness Center Monitor (Harrison County Campus) - Pool Job Description The Part-Time Fitness Center Monitor will provide professional and courteous customer service while maintaining a safe, clean, organized, and welcoming Fitness Center environment for students, faculty, staff, and community members. This position assists with the daily operations of the Fitness Center, monitors facility and equipment usage, and supports student activities, intramural sports, and other campus recreation programs and events. The position requires a positive attitude, dependability, the ability to multitask, and strong communication and problem-solving skills. Job Duties Welcome and assist Fitness Center patrons in a professional and courteous manner. Monitor Fitness Center usage to ensure compliance with college policies and procedures. Ensure that all patrons properly scan in and out of the facility. Maintain clean, organized, and safe workout and common areas. Monitor the proper use of exercise equipment and address or report safety concerns as needed. Assist with student activities, intramural sports, and other campus recreation programs and events. Assist with opening and closing procedures, as assigned. Report maintenance concerns, equipment requiring maintenance or repair, safety concerns, and patron incidents to the supervisor. Follow established emergency and incident-response procedures and contact the appropriate personnel when assistance is needed. Make copies and perform general clerical duties as needed. Perform routine cleaning of the facility and exercise equipment, including: Wiping down and sanitizing equipment daily. Sweeping and mopping as needed. Routinely cleaning and sanitizing restrooms. Monitor and restock towels, cleaning products, and other Fitness Center supplies as needed. Answer telephone calls and assist visitors with questions. Wash, dry, and fold towels as needed. Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor. Mandatory Qualifications (M1) High school diploma or equivalent. (M2) Excellent communication and organizational skills. (M3) Basic computer skills, including experience with email and Microsoft Office. (M4) Ability to work independently and as part of a team. (M5) Ability to perform the cleaning, lifting, and other physical duties required for the position. Desirable Qualifications (D1) Previous customer service experience. (D2) Experience working in a professional environment. (D3) General knowledge of exercise equipment and fitness center facilities. (D4) Experience assisting with recreational programs, intramural sports, or campus events. (D5) Demonstrated leadership, initiative, dependability, and sound judgment.
