Recreation Assistant (Afterschool Counselor) Town of Garner - 4.7 Garner, NC Job Details $14.64 an hour 18 hours ago Qualifications CPR Certification First Aid Certification Full Job Description The Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources Department is seeking creative and energetic Afterschool Counselors to support the afterschool program for school-aged youth. During the school year, this position will assist with afterschool programs, School's Out Day programs, and other various youth programs. This supplemental position is normally scheduled Monday - Friday typically between the hours of 2:30PM and 6:00PM; with the potential for other hours based on programming needs.
Examples of Duties:
Duties include preparing supplies and equipment for use during the program; Monitoring participants to ensure safety and compliance with established procedures and; Communicating effectively with program participants and parents. Other duties as assigned may be required
Minimum Qualifications:
Applicants must be at least 17 years of age Applicants must have CPR and First Aid certification or be able to obtain within 6 months. Training will be provided if necessary. Previous experience working with children is strongly preferred.
Additional Information:
This posting is open until August 5, 2026, interviews may begin prior to the application deadline. This is a Supplemental position scheduled for 17.5 hours per week. The standard work schedule is Monday-Friday, 2:30 PM to 6:00 PM. Equal Opportunity Employer
