Work Schedule:
Varies; Weekdays, weekends and evenings. Varies, mostly evenings and weekends. Employee may be asked to work with committee assigned by supervisor. Employees are expected to maintain a minimum of 20 hours per week of availability and 2 weekends per month. The Greensboro Parks and Recreation Department is a nationally accredited department and four-time National Gold Medal Award winner for Parks and Recreation Excellence. Primary Duties/Brief Description of Work:
Why Join Us? We're a team interested in building better lives through the power of parks and recreation! We are currently seeking qualified and energetic candidates to fill the role of Recreation Assistant at the Greensboro Sportsplex. This position will be responsible for daily operations including, but not limited to; greeting and directing patrons, answering calls, collecting daily fees, payments, and forms, set-up/cleaning for facility rentals, directing athletic tournaments, and assisting with facility programs. The selected applicant must possess great communication skills to ensure the highest level of customer service, have knowledge of safe work practices, ability to comprehend and follow oral and written instructions. The physical requirements of the job include but are not limited to: walking, standing, sitting for extended times, jogging, running and jumping for the purpose of instructing/leading recreation programs, lifting up to 30 lbs and operating assigned equipment and vehicles. Must have reliable transportation and work as scheduled. Work schedule consists of evening and weekends including longer hours during tournament season. This job is Non-Exempt under FLSA.
Qualifications Minimum Qualifications:
Valid Driver's License High School diploma / GED Prior customer service experience Prior computer experience using Word and Excel software programs An Ideal Candidate Would Also Possess (Preferred Qualifications): Associate's Degree or Bachelor's Degree in Education, Sports Management, Recreation or a related field Prior experience with recreation management software Prior Experience Facilitating Youth Athletic Programs Prior Experience Managing Athletic Tournaments Bilingual Current First Aid and CPR certification ("or" the ability to obtain before camp starts)
