Job Description

Performs responsible clerical work assisting with a variety of recreation activities and programs; does related work as required. Work is performed under regular supervision. Assists with the registration of program participants. Answers telephone, greeting citizens, providing information on programs and activities. Providing clerical support, preparing and maintaining files and records. Answers telephone; checks voice mail; greets guests and participants; signs up new members. Collects monies for new membership and special events fees. Sends out membership fees due notices when required. Makes copies of a variety of documents for dissemination. Maintains lists of program participants. Calls players for various games to fill in for absent members. Sort and distributes incoming mail; places magazines in appropriate holders; reshelf books. Maintains a variety of waiting lists and notifies participants of upcoming schedules. Performs related tasks as required. General knowledge of the methods and practices of community center and recreation activities. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, program participants and the general public; ability to enforce rules and regulations; basic word processing skills; ability to prepare and maintain records and files.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school and some clerical experience. Possession of an appropriate driver's license in the State of North Carolina.
