Activity Assistant Part Time Omaha, NE Job Details Part-time $15.50 - $16.50 an hour 1 day ago Qualifications Resident's rights Event coordination Patient advocacy High school diploma or GED Social media platforms Analysis skills Driver's License Calendar management Loading Purchasing Newsletters (communication methods) Computer skills Client advocacy in social work Passenger pickup and drop-off Entry level Under 1 year Full Job Description Principal Duties and Responsibilities 1. Assists in execution of activity calendar that reflects interests of Residents. 2. Invite, encourage and assist residents to participate in daily activities. 3. Implement of daily organized activities (including but not limited to Bingo, card games, group/individual activities, etc.) 4. Assist in Resident birthday recognition. 5. May drive van to provide transportation for outings, shopping, and special events. 6. Assist with theme decorating and all special events within the facility. 7. Assists with weekly grocery shopping for Residents and Country Store. 8. May record attendance at each activity/participation logs. 9. Assist with Employee Appreciation. 10. Advocate for Resident rights and report any known or suspected abuse/neglect. 11. Assists in planning, purchasing needed supplies, and conducting special events for Residents. 12. Create announcements for communication utilizing a computer program. 13. Assist with monthly newsletter, website, and social media site. 14. Any other and all other duties assigned. Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Work Environment/Conditions
  • General knowledge of health problems experienced by the elderly, recognition of medical problems, and a willingness to assist care staff, as appropriate, as typically acquired through completion of high school. Activities Director course preferred, but not required.
  • Ability to plan and organize activities, understand facility schedule, etc. as typically through completion of six months related work experience.
  • Analytical ability necessary to find activities that appeal to several residents, including those that typically choose to be involved in few activities.
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to visit with residents, entertain residents, and families during activities, arrange food for special activities, etc.
  • May be subject to prolonged working hours or stressful situations. Must be flexible to change and adapt to schedule as needed. Will involve some weekend and evening hours.
  • Walking and standing required for up to 50% of work time when conducting activities, assisting residents to activities, etc. Ability to lift up to 30 lbs. for up to 5 % of work time when decorating, arranging for activities, parties, etc. Ability to bend and turn to load residents into the handicap accessible van.
  • Must have and maintain at all times a valid driver's license and must have proof of a good current and historic driving record.
  • Good communication when marketing using social media for Saint Joseph Tower Assisted Living Community.
  • Limited exposure to temperature extremes; little or no exposure to noise, dust, etc.
