Job Description

Activities Assistant The Life Activities Assistant supports the Activities Director in providing engaging, meaningful, and enjoyable programs for residents. This position helps create a welcoming and active community by assisting with recreational, social, educational, physical, and special-event programming. The ideal candidate is energetic, compassionate, creative, and enjoys working with older adults. This role requires someone who can motivate residents to participate while recognizing and respecting each resident's individual interests, preferences, and abilities. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Assist with planning, organizing, and implementing daily, weekly, and monthly resident activity programs. Lead or assist with games, arts and crafts, exercise programs, educational activities, entertainment, social events, and other recreational programs. Encourage and motivate residents to participate in activities while providing individualized assistance when needed. Set up activity areas before programs and clean and organize areas following completion. Escort and assist residents traveling to and from activities and community events. Assist with resident outings, shopping trips, special excursions, and community events. Help plan and decorate community areas for holidays, seasonal celebrations, and special events. Maintain activity supplies and equipment and notify the Life Enrichment Director when additional materials or supplies are needed. Assist with preparing and distributing activity calendars, flyers, newsletters, announcements, and other promotional materials. Accurately document resident attendance and participation in activities. Develop positive and professional relationships with residents, families, volunteers, visitors, and fellow team members. Observe residents during activities and communicate any concerns or changes to the appropriate team member. Follow all community policies and procedures, including resident safety, infection control, confidentiality, and emergency procedures. Support the Life Enrichment Director with additional programs, projects, and events as needed. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Previous experience working with seniors, assisted living, memory care, recreation, hospitality, or a related environment preferred but not required. Friendly, outgoing, patient, and compassionate personality. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to engage and motivate residents with different interests and abilities. Creative and enthusiastic approach to activities and resident engagement. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team. Must be dependable, organized, and able to manage multiple activities and responsibilities. Basic computer skills preferred. Ability to work a flexible schedule, which may include evenings, weekends, and holidays based on community programming needs. Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and move throughout the community for extended periods. Ability to assist with setting up tables, chairs, decorations, activity supplies, and equipment. Ability to safely assist residents with activities and community outings as appropriate. Ability to lift and carry activity supplies and equipment as required. What We're Looking For We are looking for someone who brings energy, creativity, patience, and compassion to every interaction.
