Job Description

General Description:
The Basecamp Program Coordinator is a member of the Tewa Roots Society team working under the general supervision of the Basecamp Program Manager under the Pueblo of Nambe. The Basecamp Program Coordinator will coordinate program planning and facilitation of experiential, therapeutic adventure group activities to create opportunities for group reflection, healing, skill building and applied learning as well as assist in the day-to-day operation of the
Tewa Roots Society Basecamp:
Position Responsibilities will include: Collaborating with other Tewa Roots Society staff to design, coordinate, implement, and debrief an array of meaningful experiential and outdoor activities through program development that addresses health issues including, but not limited to: mental health, suicide & substance misuse prevention, recovery, bullying prevention, collective healing, collective grief, team building, healthy masculinity, leadership, healthy relationships, youth empowerment and peer support Facilitate GUIDE After School Program, Summer Program, Tewa Seeds Youth Council, and assist in the day-to-day operation of the Tewa Roots Society Basecamp facility Work collaboratively with TRS Outreach and Admin Support Manager for outreach and event planning to build and retain youth and adult participation in internal TRS programs Ensure the safety, quality, and effectiveness of all of Tewa Roots Society's Basecamp programming and outreach Contribute to the overall positivity of Basecamp environment by modeling enthusiasm and empowering youth and clients of all ages Prepare snacks and supervise youth program meals and open recreation time Engaging in regular team debriefs as a practice to reflect on and improve programming implementation and utilizing metaphor, otherwise known as "metaphoric transference" in program facilitation Proactive and independent engagement in programming, planning and outreach, following supervisor's direction while also being able to take initiative to carry out individual responsibilities and complete tasks to reach goals Uphold TRS risk management curriculum and execute mitigation planning and implementation Maintain proper documentation for program files, and communicating program plan to referral staff in a timely manner Build and maintain professional and supportive relationships with the community of Nambe Pueblo and TRS service area, departments of Nambe Pueblo, clients , co-staff, youth, parents/guardians and community partners Set a positive example in speech and conduct inside and outside of the workplace and hold appropriate boundaries within dual relationships Uphold Nambe Pueblo and Tewa Roots Society's values of agín(respect), matuu'ín(kinship), iyingidí (responsibility/awareness/safety) Transport registered youth or clients to Tewa Roots Society program activities and drive them home at the conclusion of the program day day Adhere to all policies and procedures of Nambe Pueblo, Tewa Roots Society's Norms and Expectations, and maintain client confidentiality Maintain accountability and responsibility to program area, staff, and activities while communicating professionally, effectively and efficiently in all modes of communication Must be able to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends Complete electronic medical record documentation in compliance with TRS standards, in an ethical and timely manner and maintain HIPAA compliance regarding PHI and collateral Maintain confidentiality of all personal information of clients and community members and seek supervision to support with navigating any dual relationships that may arise Consistently engage in prevention, intervention and experiential education learning opportunities and actively seek out professional development opportunities centered on culturally appropriate mental health services and Nature and land-based therapeutic frameworks Maintain all required licenses and obtain necessary certifications / training required for adventure and group services Other duties as assigned
Preferred Qualifications:
Strong organizational skills and relational skills, works well independently and collaboratively and demonstrating good judgment Experience planning and leading experiential education programs Experience providing trauma-informed care Certified Peer Support Worker, LDAC, Certified Community Support Worker Experience with one more of the following experiential mediums; group games/challenges, hiking, backpacking, rock climbing, kayaking, rafting, archery, storytelling, paddleboarding, fishing, snowshoeing, snowboarding, skiing, bushcraft, farming, plant gathering/identification, art, language immersion, disc golf, therapeutic equine programs Speaker or language learner of the Tewa language General understanding of risk management practices for outdoor recreation Experience working with Tribal youth Experience working with Tribal communities Experience working with adults in recovery This position some evenings and occasional weekend events. Facilitation experience of prevention, community education workshops, and programming Certification in Wilderness First Aid/Wilderness First Responder, Mental Health First Aid, CPR, and/or other applicable certifications or ability to obtain certifications Knowledge and ability to utilize

Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED Has done community based work (ex. community organizing, program coordination, advocacy, education or cultural mentorship) for at least 3 years Demonstrates skills and ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal form with a variety of age groups and organizations Must be willing to become a Certified Peer Support Worker within first 6 months of employment Strong risk management skills Ability to be outdoors, on feet, in all weather conditions for extended periods Be able to lift 50 pounds Confident in ability to lead small and large group activities Desire to serve Tribal communities Committed to the Tewa Roots Society mission, vision and values Team-oriented and collaborative Efficient in corresponding via email, text, and phone Ability to engage in an ongoing practice of feedback and has a learning and growth mindset Employment Screening and Compliance A valid New Mexico Driver's License and being able to be insured by Nambé Insurance Carrier is mandatory Employee will be required to complete a background check for working with youth Employee must comply with a drug and alcohol-free work environment Employee will be required to complete a drug and alcohol screening and submit to ongoing, random drug tests throughout employment Tewa Roots Society Vision We aim to cultivate an environment for resilient empowered warriors to grow, rooted in healthy relationships with self, community and nature.
