Job Description

The Activity Assistant is responsible for helping the Activity Director develop, coordinate, and implement the activity program for residents. They assist the Director in providing residents with opportunities for enrichment, stimulation, and education.
General Duties and Responsibilities :
Helps maintain a positive, pleasant living environment. Assists the Activity Director in formulating an activities calendar to meet the needs of the residents. Observes individual resident participation and response during the activity. Assists the director in creating a culture of wellness. Does one on ones with residents. Encourages resident participation in activities. Adjusts to group dynamics and modifies activity as needed. Maintain activity equipment of residents. Maintains confidentiality. Adheres to Motherhouse and Departmental Policies and Procedures. Attends orientation, training and in-service programs (i.e. CPE and first aid). Refrains from discussing staffing and personal problems with, or in the presence of residents, staff and visitors. Works weekends as needed. Follows and adheres to all guidelines outlined in the Personnel Policy Handbook, Fire Handbook, etc. Helps with planning, preparing, decorating, and cleaning up after an event. Adapts planned programs to respond to daily wellness, energy levels, and capabilities of the residents. Be a team player who takes initiative. Compassionate while respecting residents' dignity. Performs other work duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent. Experience in an activities program in a healthcare setting. Preferred experience in geriatric care.
Working Conditions:
This position may entail prolonged periods of standing, sitting and/or walking. Some exposure to common communicable viruses/bacteria within healthcare setting
Pay:
$18.00 per hour
