No previous summer-camp experience is required. Experience working with children, along with strong knowledge and experience in at least one activity, is what we're looking for. About Camp Chateaugay Located in the beautiful Adirondack Mountains of Upstate New York, Camp Chateaugay is a premier co-ed residential summer camp for children ages 7-17. At Chateaugay, we believe summer camp is about much more than activities. It is about helping young people build confidence, develop independence, form lifelong friendships, try new things, overcome challenges, and become the best version of themselves. We are looking for energetic, responsible, and talented individuals to join our team for Summer 2027. If you love working with children, enjoy being active and outdoors, and want to spend your summer making a genuine difference in the lives of young people, we would love to hear from you! The Role As a Camp Counselor, you will have two important roles: Activity Instructor and Cabin Counselor. During the day, you will teach and lead a specific activity that you have experience and confidence in. You will typically teach 4-6 activity periods per day, working with small groups of approximately eight campers.

If you have experience in additional activities, there may also be opportunities to assist or lead sessions in those areas. Outside of activity time, you will live in a cabin with campers and fellow counselors, helping to create a safe, supportive, fun, and memorable experience for your campers. Waterskiing, Wakeboarding, Canoeing, Kayaking, Fishing, Swimming, Sailing and Windsurfing Adventure & Specialty Activities:

Horseback Riding, Dungeons & Dragons (D&D), Robotics, Rocketry, Chess, Tripping & Outdoor Skills, Survival Skills, Nature, Animal Care, Rock Climbing, R0pes Course. Zip Lining and Cooking Activity Instructor Responsibilities Plan and lead fun, engaging, and age-appropriate activity sessions. Teach the core fundamentals and skills of your activity. Teach the same activity to different groups throughout the week, working with a variety of ages and ability levels. Adapt your teaching style to meet different learning styles, confidence levels, and abilities. Create an environment where campers feel encouraged to try new things and develop their skills. Ensure the safe and proper use of all equipment and facilities. Work collaboratively with other instructors and camp staff. Bring enthusiasm, energy, creativity, and positivity to every activity. Cabin Counselor Responsibilities As a Cabin Counselor, you will live alongside 6-12 campers and fellow counselors in a cabin. You will become an important role model and mentor for your campers throughout the summer.

Responsibilities include:

Supporting campers with daily routines including wake-ups, meals, activities, and bedtime. Providing appropriate supervision and ensuring camper safety and well-being. Building positive and supportive relationships with campers. Helping campers navigate the challenges of living in a residential camp environment. Encouraging independence, confidence, teamwork, kindness, and a sense of belonging. Maintaining a clean, organized, and welcoming cabin environment. Participating in at least one cabin trips and/or campouts during each session. Being an enthusiastic and active participant in evening programs, special events, camp traditions, and all aspects of camp life. Helping create a positive, inclusive, respectful, and spirited community for campers and staff. Compensation & Benefits $2,500+ for the summer, plus a transportation allowance. Your accommodation and everyday living expenses are covered while you are at camp. You will also have access to 60+ camp activities during free periods and days off. Work alongside an exciting and diverse international staff team representing 15+ countries, making lifelong friendships Multiple days off throughout the summer to explore the surrounding areas, such as Lake Placid, Burlington in Vermont, and Montreal in Canada Access to a fleet of camp vehicles, on a first-come, first-served basis, for staff aged 21+ with a valid driver's license

18-28 years old. Experienced working with children or young people. Confident and knowledgeable in at least ONE of our activity areas. Energetic, enthusiastic, responsible, and team-oriented. Positive role models who genuinely enjoy working with children. Comfortable working with children of different ages, abilities, and backgrounds.
