Position:

Recreation Specialist The Recreation Specialist is responsible for assisting in the development and implementation of recreation activities and programming appropriate for the client population. Jamaica Women's Employment Shelter is a transitional shelter for women who are experiencing homelessness and are employed or deemed employable, and; referred by the York City Department of Homeless Services (DHS). Minimum Qualifications:

Associate's degree and one year of relevant experience with a similar populations or high school diploma or GED with at least two years relevant experience.

Recreation Specialist Principal Responsibilities:

Plan, coordinate, publicize, implement, and facilitate support groups, recreational activities, special events and holiday programs. Update and post printed materials and encourage client participation.

Assist in the development and implementation of new programs aimed at enhancing clients motivation through socialization and the development of leisure time skills.

Coordinate programs with case managers in order to facilitate success of In-Reach sessions.

Develop contacts with various sources for off-site activities.

Assist in preparing and submitting written and statistical reports.
