Activities Aide - Assisted Living Position Summary We are seeking a caring, dependable, and energetic Activities Aide to support life-enrichment programming for residents in a New York State assisted living/adult care setting for the evening shift. The Activities Aide helps plan, set up, lead, and document meaningful recreational, social, educational, spiritual, and wellness activities that promote resident engagement, dignity, independence, and quality of life. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Assist with planning and implementing daily, weekly, and special-event activity programs that meet residents' interests, abilities, and needs. Lead or support group and one-on-one activities, including games, crafts, music, exercise, discussion groups, holiday programs, community outings, and social events. Encourage resident participation while respecting individual preferences, choices, privacy, and dignity. Set up and clean up activity spaces, supplies, equipment, and refreshments as needed. Assist residents safely to and from activity areas, following facility policies and resident care plans. Observe resident participation and report changes in mood, behavior, ability, or engagement to the appropriate supervisor. Maintain accurate attendance records and activity documentation as directed. Support family, volunteer, and community involvement in activity programming. Follow infection control, safety, emergency, confidentiality, and residents' rights policies at all times. Perform other related duties as assigned by the Activities Director/Coordinator or Administrator. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Experience working with older adults, individuals with dementia, or in assisted living, adult care, long-term care, recreation, hospitality, or human services preferred. Ability to communicate clearly, patiently, and respectfully with residents, families, visitors, and team members. Creative, positive, reliable, and able to motivate and engage residents with varying physical and cognitive abilities. Ability to follow directions, work independently, and function as part of a care team. Basic computer or documentation skills preferred. Must meet all facility and New York State employment requirements, including required health assessments, background checks, orientation, and training. Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and move throughout the facility during scheduled shifts. Ability to assist with activity setup, supplies, and resident transport within the scope of facility policy. Ability to lift or carry light activity materials and supplies as needed.
