Job Description

Oversee and assist with recreational programs and equipment. The student recreation coordinator is responsible for helping maintain a safe, clean, welcoming, and supportive environment for students, faculty, and staff using the campus gym facility. This position assists with daily gym operations, maintains equipment, monitors facility activities, and, when necessary, responds appropriately to emergencies.

Greet and sign-in gym users and answer general facility and equipment inquiries. Issue sports equipment and assist with intramural set-up for sport activities. Assist in examining gymnasium for safety hazards. Enforce all facility and program policies and procedures. Offer useful and tactful safety advice regarding the use of equipment/facility. Inspect fitness equipment and conduct equipment/supply inventory. Assist with intramural logistics (i.e. needed jerseys, checking in players/coaches, etc.) Maintain current CPR/AED certification and be able to perform CPR and use an AED when required. Some experience with fitness, sports or recreational activities. Able to work with minimal supervision. Good verbal and written communication skills. Consistent and dependable work schedule. Ability to perform the emergency-response functions of the position. Selected candidate will be required to participate in CPR and AED Training. Selected candidate will be oriented on campus emergency procedures.
