Job Description

Overview The Activity Assistant performs duties involving the planning and implementation of activities which meet the needs of our residents. We are a healthcare community offering short-term rehabilitation, skilled nursing, long-term care, assisted living, independent living and home health services. Responsibilities Assists the Activities Director in planning and carrying out a program of activities which meets the needs of the residents and will be made available to all residents. Maintains documentation as required by state and federal regulations. Assists with activities inside and outside the facility to stimulate and promote resident interest and participation, such as special entertainment, special holiday events, and religious activities. Assists in providing social communication among residents through group activities and recreation. Encourages residents to participate in activities. Works with volunteers in various activity programs. Assists in planning and preparing the monthly activity calendar. Requirements High school diploma or general education degree (GED). Must have a current Ohio driver's license with an acceptable driving record and proof of insurance. Must meet Driver Certification requirements. Must have the ability to demonstrate warmth, compassion and respect for older adults. Must have excellent communication skills, organizational skills, and creativity in planning activities. Must be self-motivated, requiring minimum supervision. Current CPR and First Aid Certification is preferred. Why work at Shepherd of the Valley?
