Full Job Description Description:
POSITION SUMMARY
The Activity Center Associate is a part time position whose main function is to assist in the successful operation of the Senior Center. The Activity Center Associate will work mostly in the Activity Center working directly with Pickleball and Basketball but is not limited to only the Activity Center. They will assist the Senior Center Coordinators with all activities that are being offered in the Senior Center when appropriate. The Activity Center Associate will be responsible for answering the phone, greeting people when they enter the Center.
HOURS:
Monday-Friday 8AM-2PM
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The following represents the majority of the duties performed by the position but is not meant to be all-inclusive nor prevent other duties from being assigned as needed.
Responsibilities:
Ability to work flexible hours outside of normal business hours including evenings and Saturdays Collects, organizes, and records information about individuals enrolling in the Senior Center. Assists in overseeing operations in the Activity Center with pickleball and basketball Assists in special events at the Senior Center. Overseas all classes and groups and makes suggestions for improvement or continuation of class or group activity. Recruits, trains, and schedules volunteers to assist with activities. Obtains and maintains Volunteer Food Handlers Certification Ability to work flexible hours outside of normal business hours including evenings and Saturdays Assist with Give 5 when needed. Performs other duties as required.
Requirements:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Preferred
  • High school diploma or equivalent. Preferred
  • Two years of recreation or event staff. Preferred
  • Two years of experience in providing services to aging adults.
CERTIFICATION, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Oklahoma Driver's License and auto insurance. Food handlers' permit. CPR training.
SKILLS:
Ability to work independently as well as a team member . Ability to work effectively with individuals and groups of seniors and volunteers. Organize and follow through on program development, being creative and innovative. Demonstrate good oral and written communication skills. Basic computer skills and proficient in Microsoft Office. Have good phone skills and can operate a copier machine. Can physically carry supplies, assist in preparation and clean-up of meals. Can respond to emergencies. Ability to manage multiple and sometimes simultaneous activities throughout the day Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships. Present a positive attitude and maintain a professional appearance. Ability to be self-motivated in an unsupervised environment.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Can lift 30 pounds. Requires sitting, walking, standing, bending, good hearing and visual capability. Requires dependable transportation which can be used during the normal operation of the Center.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work environment is an office or inside setting of a non-profit providing a variety of services to seniors and their families. The activity level is high and the noise level is moderate.
