Job Description

SPORTS COORDINATOR GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Sports Coordinator plays a critical role in supporting Special Olympics Oklahoma's mission by overseeing all aspects of sports and competition. This position is responsible for implementation, data management, bracketing, and execution of all sports at the Area and state level. The Sports Coordinator will manage all volunteer Area Management Teams and facilitate communication of these volunteer positions with corresponding staff members.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. Knowledge of and experience with Special Olympics programs preferred. Experience planning, coordinating, or supporting sporting events. Strong organizational and project management skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and database management systems. Effective public speaking and presentation skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with staff, volunteers, coaches, athletes, and community stakeholders. Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work independently with minimal supervision. Demonstrated professionalism, sound judgment, flexibility, and adaptability. Commitment to fostering positive working relationships with colleagues, volunteers, and partners.

SPORTS COORDINATOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist the VP of Sports & Training in developing, implementing and coordinating a plan for all aspects of the sports and Unified Sports competitions. Oversee all aspects of sport competition implementation, data management, bracketing, and execution. Responsible for managing all competition registration and registration data entry for bracketing, heating, and census information. Oversee all aspects of our fourteen different volunteer Area Management Teams across the state including questions, training, and requests for materials, supplies, equipment awards and any needed resources. Coordinate the annual Area Management Team Leadership Conference. Manage projects and venues at all state level competitions as assigned by the VP of Sports and Training. Assist the Training Coordinator with all aspects of coaches training to ensure coaches are trained properly with sports rules and guidelines for each sport. Assist with the annual Coaches Camp. Maintain sports and training calendar on website in conjunction with the Marketing Department. Attend local, regional, national, and world competitions as needed. Attend local, state, national, and world training courses as needed. Assist coaches with questions regarding competition, registration, equipment, or other sport questions. Work with the VP of Sports & Training and the Volunteer Coordinator to develop sports training curriculum and videos for volunteers. Help maintain the Sports Department equipment and storage areas. Ability to travel and to work evenings, weekends or overtime as approved and required to meet job requirements. Assist with other projects and duties as assigned by the VP of Sports & Training.
