Part-Time, Seasonal (September-April) Position Summary The Gymnastics/Tumbling Helper assists with the instruction and supervision of youth gymnastics and tumbling classes for children ages 18 months to 12 years. We currently offer 4 gymnastics classes; Jellybeans, Rollers, Twisters, and an Advanced Class. This position supports the Head Gymnastics Instructor in creating a safe, fun, and positive learning environment while helping participants develop basic gymnastics and tumbling skills. Schedule • Available to work 2 days per week from September through April-Classes are Monday and Tuesday evenings Typical schedule Monday-4:30pm-8:00pm and Tuesday-5:00pm-8:30pm Essential Duties and Responsibilities Assist the Head Gymnastics Instructor with planning and conducting gymnastics and tumbling classes for children ages 18 months through 12 years. Help implement safe, age-appropriate lesson plans that the head gymnastics instructor makes that promote skill development, confidence, and fun. Lead or assist with class warm-ups at the beginning of each session and stretching activities at the conclusion of each class. Provide direct supervision and instruction to participants while ensuring a positive and encouraging atmosphere. Maintain accurate attendance records using class rosters provided by the supervisor. Communicate professionally and courteously with parents and guardians during participant drop-off and pick-up. Monitor participant safety at all times and promptly address unsafe behaviors or conditions. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the Blue Gym and surrounding program areas. Follow all YMCA policies, procedures, and risk-management practices. Serve as a positive role model for youth participants and represent the YMCA in a professional manner. Qualifications Minimum age of 15 years preferred. Experience working with children is preferred. Background in gymnastics, tumbling, cheerleading, dance, or related activities is helpful but not required. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively with children of various ages and abilities. Ability to follow directions and work collaboratively with the Head Gymnastics Instructor. Dependable, punctual, and professional. Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, bend, and kneel Ability to lift and move gymnastics equipment as needed. Ability to actively supervise and engage with children in a gymnasium setting.
