The essential duties of the position are: Fitness Center Coordinate the evening operations of the fitness center. Assist with the implementation and enforcement of the policies and procedures of the fitness center. Assist with applying the Emergency Management Response for Campus Recreation. Assist with equipment distribution, maintenance requisitions and preventative maintenance reporting for recreational facilities. Contribute to the strategic planning of department goals and objectives. Assist with the monitoring of the custodial services in the fitness center and reporting the needs to the Director of Campus Recreation. Assist with conducting daily safety inspections of the facility to identify safety concerns. Assist with all aspects of student employees, including scheduling, supervising, planning, evaluating, training, etc. Responsible for operational knowledge of audio and visual equipment within the facility. Assist with maintaining an accurate facility schedule and related recreational service areas. Support the reservation procedures for all services offered within Campus Recreation. Incorporate wellness components into activities and programs related to Campus Recreation. lntramurals Direct all aspects of the intramural sports program. Provide significant and high-quality opportunities in a variety of indoor and outdoor intramural activities to satisfy the diverse needs of all students. Collaborate with various departments on campus to maximize interest, attendance, and support of the intramural programs. Recruit, train, supervise, evaluate, and develop all student Intramural employees. Develop and evaluate program rules, regulations, policies, and procedures. Handle disputes or controversies occurring during and following intramural events. Record and documents incidents, and when necessary, report to Office of Student Conduct. Track, maintain, and organize intramural participation for annual reports. Oversight, management, and marketing of the Intramural website (IMLeagues.com); ensure schedules are accurately posted in a timely manner, communicate to all participants, and accommodate schedules when necessary. Manage payroll for intramural staff. Coordinate all equipment management and maintenance, safety checks, and assist with other relevant risk management issues. Facilitate captains' meetings for intramurals, which cover rules, finances, schedules, and other pertinent information. Design and purchase championship T-shirt, awards, and other intramural incentives. Direct extramural activities and conducts instruction sessions with team captains to disseminate rules, regulations, and operating procedures; assures all travel arrangements are completed, complete appropriate paperwork and payment, and oversee the competition on the state, regional, and national level. Develop and administer Intramural Handbook. Supervise the usage of athletic facilities as ii pertains to campus recreation. Assist with maintaining a budget for the intramural program. Social Media & Technology Coordinates Campus Recreation presence on social media platforms for advertising of information, and events and updating activity and contest results. Responsible for creating/designing material for HRFC as needed Coordinate HRFC technology as it pertains to, but not limited to facility management software, student scheduling apps, intramural support software etc. Coordinate upgrades and updates to iPad technology Sports Clubs Responsible for and acting as the primary supervisor for the overall management of the active Sports Clubs, while maximizing opportunities that promote recreation as a means of enhancing social, psychological, and physiological student development for student members. Creates and disseminates the official Sports Club Manual listing all University and Campus Recreation rules and regulations, emergency procedures, required paperwork (health/accident insurance, risk consent, participation rosters, coach agreements, codes of conduct, equipment inventory, assumption of responsibility), and basic operating procedures to align with the guidelines for allocated clubs and organizations. Serves as the liaison for sports clubs for the scheduling and most efficient use of indoor and outdoor recreational facilities both on and off main campus. Advises all sports clubs through the club status/official recognition process, annual budget process, as well as fiscal responsibilities including expenditures and fundraising, and marketing and recruiting efforts. Monitors sports club constitutions, by-laws, and officer updates for compliance. Assists in the creation and adherence of sports club constitutions, rules, and procedure manuals, polices and goals and codes of conduct. Assists in the creation/implementation/operation of club sport websites and other social media outlets. Monitors all club sports practice procedures, game scheduling, facility reservations, and travel arrangements. Assist with scheduling of medical coverage if required. Evaluates all sports club presidents and coaches. Works to establish alumni involvement/participation for each individual sport. Collaborates with club officers and works directly with local, regional, and national conferences and leagues to ensure the specific club remains compliant throughout the required processes for events and competitions. Collaborate with other University and Academic departments across campus to provide educational and motivational workshops for the leadership and current active members of the Sports Clubs. Collaborations include but not limited to Greek Life, Student Activities Board, Career and Professional Development Office, etc. Assist club officers with gathering academic information that is required through league play or deemed necessary by each club. Creation/implementation/operation and serves as the advisor to the student Presidential Sports Club Council, oversees each meeting, agenda and action items, and tracks attendance for all required meetings, workshops, and events. Collaborate with other University Departments and host speakers to provide resources and other information as it pertains to the Sports Clubs on a semester-by-semester basis. University Mascot Responsible for and serve as the primary supervisor for the overall management and supervision of the University Mascot program, as follows: Recruits and hires two - three students to serve in the capacity as the official University Mascot. Coordinates scheduling and supervises duties and responsibilities of mascot appearances for athletic events, university special events, and as requested for marketing or other University needs. Coordinates mascot training to include working with the cheerleader coach or others on appropriate mascot performances and behavior during appearances. Maintains mascot costumes involving repair, cleaning, and inventory. Special Programming Perform other duties and assume other responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Campus Recreation, including working special events and serving on various university and division-wide committees. Assist with the implementation of Greek Week as it pertains to Campus Recreation. Certifications Maintain a current CPR , First Aid, AED Certification or equivalent Acquire and maintain a current Belay Certification or equivalent pertaining to the Climbing Wall. Required Skills, Knowledge & Abilities Minimum of Education / TrainingRequired Education Summary Bachelor's degree in Exercise and Sports Science, Sport Management, Physical Education, Recreation/Leisure Administration, or related field is required. The successful candidate will possess a valid driver's license. The candidate will also currently possess or will acquire: within 90 days of hire date
CPR / FIRST AID / AED
Certification within 90 days of hire date Belay Certification The successful candidate will possess excellent oral and written communication skills; strong organizational, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills; the ability to think critically and manage confidential information; proficiency with computer software programs and Microsoft Office programs. Preferred Qualifications One year of professional or graduate level experience required in a related field, higher education preferred. Physical Demands Must be physically able to coordinate and oversee set ups and events for recreational indoor and outdoor activities at various athletic venues/fields and on various surfaces.
