Activity Assistant Responsibilities include:

Helps meet the social and recreational needs of the residents by leading activities such as games, bingo, book club, light exercise, etc. Provides activities for physical, intellectual, social, emotional, spiritual, and vocational wellness to maintain health. Plans country rides and bust trips to local spots (stores, restaurants, ice cream shops, parks, etc.); drives small bus on outings. Helps in the planning of the monthly calendar of activities. Assists with care for department pets as needed. Provides assistance to residents at meals by serving coffee and tea, cutting of food, storing of walkers, and procuring of services of waitstaff. Provide proper hydration. Makes activity schedule announcements and other announcements as requested.

Requirements Activity Assistant Qualifications:

Must be at least 18 years of age and have a High School Diploma or GED. Ability to speak in front of/lead activities of large groups. Previous experience working with seniors. Current driver's license in good standing for at least the past 3 years, and willingness and ability to drive small bus to transport residents safely on outings, required. Previous experience with individuals that have cognitive deficits (such as dementia) is preferred. Music, art, fitness, educational, or activity experience preferred.
