Residential Camp Location:
Stroudsburg, PA Employment Type:
Full-Time, Seasonal (June 22•August 16, 2026) About Client A residential summer camp seeking a seasoned child development professional to serve in a dedicated camper care leadership role. The organization prioritizes social-emotional well-being alongside programming, with a collaborative team structure that connects care staff, unit leadership, and the Health Center.
Compensation & Benefits Base Salary:
Licensed Social Worker (MSW/LCSW or equivalent): $5,250•6,000 for the full summer |
Guidance Counselor or Experienced Teacher:
$4,500•5,000 for the full summer — Based on experience and qualifications
Shift:
Residential; pre-camp training June 22-27 followed by full camp season through August 16
Benefits Package:
Private air-conditioned living space with private bathroom; all meals included; up to 2 children (rising grades 1-9) attend tuition-free (valued at $12,750/child; salary adjustment of $500•760 applies) Job Summary A professional leadership role blending child development, staff coaching, and family communication—not a clinical or therapy position. The Camper Care Specialist supports counselor effectiveness, guides campers through social-emotional challenges, and bridges communication between families and camp leadership. Key Responsibilities Participate in all pre-camp staff training; review camper profiles with unit leaders and counselors during bunk meetings Prepare counseling staff to navigate homesickness, peer conflict, anxiety, and behavioral concerns through guided discussion and role play Attend nightly unit meetings to assess camper dynamics and coach staff on group management and social conflict resolution Lead three scheduled Lunch & Learn sessions per unit across the summer Serve as the primary family contact for camper care concerns during the season; respond to parent calls and emails through camp systems only Reach out to all new camper families during the first week; follow up after Health Center stays when appropriate Review Daily Camper Reports (DCRs) and meet individually with campers requiring additional social-emotional support Collaborate with leadership before escalating mental health concerns; partner with the Health Center to distinguish mental vs. physical health needs Attend Camper Care Team meetings (Sunday, Tuesday, and Friday during 1st period) and additional sessions as directed Maintain strong professional boundaries, discretion, and sound judgment throughout the residential season Minimum Requirements Must meet one of the following: active MSW, LCSW, or equivalent state licensure (2+ years working with children/adolescents); certified teacher with 3+ years of experience; or certified school guidance counselor with 3+ years of experience Demonstrated experience supporting youth social, emotional, and behavioral development Strong professional communication skills with both families and colleagues Able to uphold appropriate professional boundaries in a residential camp environment Available for the full summer season including pre-camp training and all camp dates Minimum two professional references required; at least one must be a current or recent direct supervisor Ideal Qualifications Prior experience in a residential camp, school, or youth-serving community setting Skilled at coaching adults—elevating staff performance without taking over their role Emotionally intelligent and steady; exercises sound judgment in ambiguous situations Genuinely energized by being part of a camp community beyond formal responsibilities How to Apply At Rio Staffing , we specialize in connecting skilled professionals with well-run organizations and high-quality programs.
