NOTICE OF VACANCY
Student Life Wellness and Recreational Services Coordinator Classification:
MnSCU Academic Professional 2 Unlimited, Full-time 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM (Monday•Friday) •A flexible work schedule may be approved with up to two days remote work per week (if applicable)
Salary Range:
Hourly from $25.67•37.26; Annually from $53,599 to $77,799 •Salary placement is dependent on education and experience The vacancy is posted on-line from Friday, May 8, 2026 to Friday, May 29, 2026 at 11:59 PM.
THE POSITION AND THE DEPARTMENT
This position is responsible for developing, coordinating, and implementing comprehensive wellness, recreation, and intramural programming at Normandale. This position is responsible for administering and marketing an intramural and recreation program that includes open gym and various recreational activities. The staff member in this role will support assigned student clubs with event logistics and purchasing needs, serving as a key resource for students. This position manages and supervises the fitness and wellness facilities. They will coordinate additional Student Life activities related to wellness, recreation, and intramurals and manage appropriate budgets. This position will also assist with Student Life events and leadership programs to help create an engaging experience for a diverse student body. This position will actively advance the college's strategic goals, including achieving equity in educational outcomes and supporting a culturally responsive and service-oriented culture, through individual and departmental efforts.
YOUR QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum:
(expected to have to enter job) 2 years of experience in higher education, including graduate internships, and experience with intramural or wellness programming. A Bachelor's degree in health sciences, exercise science, education, psychology or related field can be substituted for 12 months experience; an Associate's can substitute for 6 months experience. Demonstrated ability to think critically, problem solve, and multitask Demonstrated ability to use judgement in situations involving confidentiality or crisis situations Experience working with underrepresented populations providing culturally responsive support to students of color, first-generation students, and Pell eligible students Experience planning events and educational programs for a diverse student body
Preferred:
(desired but not expected to have to enter job) Nationally recognized, NCCA (National Commissions for Certifying Agencies) accredited Group Fitness certification 2-3 years in Student Affairs, Wellness Programming, or other related field Current CPR/AED certification Strong attention to detail and ability to lead multiple projects at once Experience serving as a coordinator for student programming Experience supervising and onboarding student employees Demonstrated experience with budget management Ability to work evening and weekend hours as needed.
