KEY DUTIES INCLUDE
Ensure a comprehensive program of recreational, intellectual, psycho-social and spiritual activities Lead activities as needed, from brain fitness games to tea parties Create printed monthly calendars and newsletters Actively facilitate and model person-centered care, including the incorporation of activities of daily living into structured programming; support residents in self-directed/solo activities and in assuming leadership roles Complete resident personal histories, and maintain these documents along with activity participation records Arrange for entertainers, speakers and other outside service providers Organize special events and outings, handling details such as decorating, purchasing advance tickets, recruiting volunteers, planning refreshments with food and beverage director, etc.
QUALIFICATIONS
An upbeat, engaging personality Formal training in therapeutic recreation or activities Minimum two years' experience in health care or elder community Flexible schedule and willingness to work hard to achieve excellence Certification by an accrediting body such as the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation or the National Association of Activity Professionals is preferred but not required.
